OpenMind App

Author: Caroline Mehl

Organization: OpenMind, Heterodox Academy

OpenMind is a free, online psychology-based platform designed to reduce political polarization and foster mutual understanding across differences. OpenMind guides users through five interactive steps to foster intellectual humility and uncover the tricks our minds often play on us. Through this process, users gain the cognitive skills and shared language to engage in constructive disagreement. The web-based app is fun, engaging, and constantly adapts to users’ responses. It can be completed in about 90 minutes, and it can be used in classrooms, organizations, or religious communities. Simply ask your participants to complete it independently online and come prepared for discussion.

To begin using OpenMind, follow these three easy steps:

  1. Access the OpenMind app here: https://openmindplatform.org/app-user
  2. Create a username and password with GuidedTrack. This will enable you to save your progress and log in from different devices.
  3. Enter the following access code: 9Adar2018(case sensitive)

Are you planning to use OpenMind with your synagogue or classroom, and you’d like to track your participants’ progress?

You can set up unique access codes for your groups by using this link: https://openmindplatform.org/app-dashboard/
From here, you can set up an access code in under a minute, and receive instructions that you can forward to your group to get started. You can then return to that link to access your dashboard and track your participants’ progress.
